      Some counterpoints (kinda)

      · I don’t see Robertson having a great night, he only won by being less stupid than most

      · Tomac probably didn’t like the traction conditions and decided to relax for the whole main event, which isn’t a stupid thing in a 17-round championship

      · Webb and Sexton’s performance in Tampa was a one-off until proven otherwise and this also includes Roczen. While ET3 is very capable in the wet, maybe now he’s old enough to not bother trying, and then you got K-Roc and the rest doing great… in special conditions. When it comes to judging riders, Tampa should only count as a precedent if we find another somewhat-wet night in this season.

I feel Anderson is just going for one-off wins and, if he ain’t got the start, he’s 100% willing to kick Justin’s ass and/or prove he’s the vastly superior rider

Well, here are my points after the Houston Supercross

#1 – Y’all said Anderson wasn’t a contender, you were wrong#2 – Sexton scared himself into 2nd place in a night where he should’ve dominated while ET3 pushed himself into a win he didn’t deserve
#3 – Plessinger looked fantastic, then his “unorthodox” physical conditioning showed up – Great job by JCoop too
#4 – Savatgy > Cianciarulo should be talked about more by the big media outlets
#5 – Colt45 needs to get his act together ASAP, the Lawrence brothers are for sure getting his seat soon… but he’s gonna get kicked out of pro racing at this pace
#6 – Ferrandis is confirming himself as a MX-only guy, which is a huge no-no in the USA
#7 – Lawrence bros should get both titles this year
#8 – If you say you got Anstie being a contender before, you’re lying
#9 – Great debut by Vialle, that odd mistake while not being pressured shouldn’t be a concern
#10 – Kinda surprised Haiden was better than Chance and Talon
#11 – Thrasher needs to get his act together (AKA be more like Jordon) – When you’re at his level, bad starts can happen but you gotta keep it together so worst case you finish 4th-7th

I wanna believe Webb wasn’t at 100% because of some underlying reason (cold, midweek crash, etc), otherwise finishing 7″ behind Plessinger is a bit inexcusable

I worked for a Portuguese company for like 7 months (I’m in the credits of some 2018 videogame), there was a Lopes in the team and he was LOH-pes. Surnames and names aren’t up to interpretation, there’s a right and wrong way. It’s like how even Buddy Antúnez has been saying his own surname wrong for as long as I can check.

#6 Colt is 28 and Craig is 31.

Triple Crowns are hard to take anything away from regarding the season since they are outliers and not very indicative of the longer races.  I take them for what they are; one-off short races where weird things seem yo always happen.  Anderson is once again making enemies (this time Webb), so he now has a target on his back with Webb and Barcia looking out for him.  It’s going to cost him sooner or later and he will have no one to blame but himself.

Once things resume to normal, your main guys will still be Jett in the 250’s and Tomac, Webb, and Sexton in the 450’s.  It is nice seeing Webb back up to pace, and since I am from the PNW it was awesome seeing Kitchen get that win.  Now what I really hope for is for PC to give Carson Brown a call and let him race some 250 sx.

The “29 vs 37” was the points during the night using the Olympic/MxdN scoring system they use for the 3-race format. While they were back-to-back in the end, Craig Jr was actually way better than Nichols in A2.

I despite the 3-race format a lot, it’s pure rallycross-like fluff made for ADHD kids and the organizers often combine it with course designs that allow for little passing. Worst format change since they brought the semis back (THANKFULLY) for a short while. I wouldn’t mind the occasional motocross-style doubleheader night as long as both gave full points since that’d give us plenty of drama with championship contenders having to make more calculated moves on the 1st main to avoid getting a double zero and losing up to 50 points in a single night.

Tomac, Webb and Sexton are probably the consistent top3 guys but Jason Anderson definitely has the speed and pace to be there. I’m no #TeamFried guy but some details in A1 and San Diego up to his very weird off-camera crash made me think he can spoil the other guys’ nights if things line up. I’m somewhat happy that Kitchen and Robertson had good nights because Yamaha-Star becoming a rider-based fluke of the past would be really sad. After losing Honda-Geico and with KTM-Red Bull slowing down, we 100% need a team that is able to pick/shit out great young guys on a routinely basis.

Tryhard Nani Roma in rally-raid – He failed to finish the Dakar Rally 7 out of 8 times before finally winning in his 9th attempt (2004). Also, that year there was a stage so tough THE TOP GUYS needed no less than NINE HOURS to finish it to the point the organization gave everyone a rest day to everyone.

You can your head down and eyes pointing up, which would make you have a “flat” vision

SOURCE = I used to do that in some flat and most/all downhill sections in cycling races, I still kinda do that when I go for a good schuss when skiing

I love looking for the official documents of the competitions I follow and there’s some insane stuff out there. Boardercross/skicross maps are probably the weirdest thing together with American Flat Track adding speed traps on some races, then stopped using them once they noticed how unimpressively fast the bikes are. Here’s the sites for the 3 AMA-related ones you might wanna check out regularly:

AMA Supercross, AMA Motocross and American Flat Track.

I gotta admit that the best results page maybe ever has to be the FIS one (skiing in all its forms). Any freaking FIS-regulated competition, no matter how small, ends up there somehow. Ever gone to a ski resort and noticed there was an official race nobody cared about in one piste? If it was anywhere near serious it was probably FIS-regulated and the results got uploaded to their website and they’ll be there until the Earth stops spinning. Just imagine the AMA having the results of every single AMA-backed event ever all uploaded to their website like WTF, it’s beyond insane.

A lot of takes on the second (third?)…Jett is Jett and Tomac is Tomac.  Everything else is what’s really interesting to me.

                            5. Dylan Ferrandis.  Another “meh” ride for his abilities and talent.  He can be the fastest guy out there with his talent, but he doesn’t seem to be gelling with sx on the 450.

                            4. Max Vohland.  He’s making too many mistakes for being three seasons in. Some have said that he doesn’t deserve a factory ride at this point, but I wouldn’t go that far.  RV and Roczen both failed to make mains as factory riders.  The idea here is not to compare Max to RV or Roczen, but to make the point that even if riders like RV and Kenny can fail to make the main, anyone can.  Having said that, Max needs better results to keep his factory ride.

                            3. Mookie.  It just seems to be the same old song and dance. So much talent, but results are inconsistent and the result of crashes.

                            2. Chase Sexton.  He needs to be up front battling for wins, and he’s not.

                            1. Jason Anderson.  Last season, Jason engaged in spats with a few riders and it cost him points. It seems he hasn’t learned much.  It’s time to focus on the championship, and going on Twitter and talking crap on Barcia is not a smart move in my opinion.  In the end, Jason ended up on the ground and Barcia on the podium.

                            Any thoughts to share?

                            Gonna go point by point…

#5 – Dylan is 100% a motocross guy, he’s racing supercross to keep his job and that’s about it. He seems to see jumps and rhythm sections as a chore rather than a place to gain/lose time. On the small bike, hitting the big line is enough to gain time on others but now he needs to actually make the most out of that line everyone is hitting and either he can’t or he doesn’t want to.

#4 – I said after A1 that 2023 might be less embarrassing for Max and then he straight-up fails to make the main event in San Diego, good God!

#3 – I’ve always said that the best racers never go 100% because whenever you get that close to the limit, you’ll eventually miss and crash. Malcolm Stewart seems to be Nichols-esque guy riding at 100% rather than guys like Eli, Cooper, Chase and such running around at 95-97% so they rarely crash out.

#2 – Chase is having the average Tomac start to a season. San Diego’s result was very much influenced by Justin Barcia being a massive cunt though…

#1 – Jason Anderson’s whole problem in San Diego was a stupid crash on a flat turn while running 3rd, he was actually doing great. I’d love to ask him about that crash, either he landed weird from those small singles or he had some brain fart.

PS: Not too excited about A2, the trackmap makes me think we won’t see that much passing with only 1 long straight ending on a tight turn.

Forgot about writing my thoughts so yesterday I rewatched the main events

#1 – Anyone that isn’t Jett Lawrence or Eli Tomac better stop thinking about winning bonuses – If these 2 kinda-slow championship starters got it done so swiftly on round 1, rest is beyond screwed. My main interest right now is when/if Jett and/or Eli will ever throw it away. Feld is probably looking to ship some Colorado dark dirt to some stadium for February or so as we speak.

#2 – Gotta love Cooper Webb’s subpar pace working out so damn well just because he knows how to ride straight for 20 minutes. Sexton also looked smart rather than fast, IDK how to feel about that.

#3 – Roczen could blame things on the Suzuki… if speed was his problem, which it isn’t. Imagine going for a worse bike and/or team so people think you’re the key… and then showing everyone you were the issue all along. Plessinger also with some good speed but little stamina. At least KR94 might get a win this season if start+conditions favor him enough…

#4 – Private Track Adam (my original nickname, because his performance depends so much on track being nicely-groomed) so on par with himself that Savatgy almost outperformed him, Kawasaki can’t be happy about that at all!

#5 – Musquin and Craig getting bad starts and then neither made more than 3 passes, YIKES!

#6 – Max Vohland’s final year in KTM might be less embarrassing.

#7 – RJ vs McAdoo vs Oldenburg fighting for 2nd might be entertaining if they start together often.

#8 – Yamaha-Star stroke gold a few years ago with a fantastic batch of riders but their recent picks are “Max-ish” to say the least. I don’t blame the team (their system), I blame who they’ve picked. If Deegan is also “meh”, it’s gonna be the funniest shit in dirtbike racing history.

Back when I rode, this PoS was my local track but I rarely rode motocross and actually never rode there. I did ride this kinda-decent place a couple of times but it was a mess. I was on a 65cc and Spain didn’t start believing in “kids’ tracks” until like the mid 2010s so we had to get there absurdly early, I’d ride on a shortened version to avoid the big hill climb and burn gas up until people on adult bikes would start essentially jumping over my head.

TBH most MX tracks in the USA are so “lame” that they are wonderful for kids as you can easily do laps with dignity on a 65cc when the place is that flat plus you’ve kids’ tracks for a few decades now. Here in Europe motocross is tightly linked with big elevation changes or sand and, well, it’s hard to ride around at a good pace on such a small bike UNLESS you’re rather good at it.
